Books: Got my hands on the 2nd Promise Falls thriller from Linwood Barclay. Total guilty pleasure reading. What’s your guilty pleasure?
Music: I have a very disappointed 15 year old at my house, because he can’t go to the May 12 show at the Red Dog. Kalle Mattson and Jason Collett, early start (7:45). Worth catching!

I can always be reached at lisa_noble@kprdsb.ca. I’m @nobleknits2 on Twitter, and our class hashtag is #laclasseaqm. We post what we’re learning on Edsby.I’m Madame Noble, and I teach Core French to students in Grade 5/6-8. I also teach music (vocal and instrumental) to those classes. On this blog, you’ll find what we’re doing in class, important dates, permission forms/letters to download and print at home (in case they didn’t make it home in the backpack), the trivia questions the class has been challenged with each week, and some links to websites, music and books you might find interesting.I’ve chosen to use a blog in the hopes that it will start a conversation – so please feel free to leave a comment or a questions. Let’s keep the lines of communication open. The big goal in my classroom is being able to communicate in our second language. We do our best to speak only in French, as much as we can, and to use the vocabulary we’re learning (using the AIM approach, where there is a sign-language type action for every word we learn – I sign, and the students speak) to convey our ideas. There’s a list here of the words we start with, and a look over it, to review, or remind your children of how much they know, would be a great idea.gesture vocab with EnglishThis week in French: Grade 5/6: Play groups have been created, and students are enjoying starting to choose roles, and work on understanding of hte play.Grade 6:This group is getting a huge kick out of our story of a lonely frog looking for a friend – hoping this will lead us into some thinking about what makes a good friend. We will also be working on digital citizenship this week, while some students are at Trent EnrichmentNajarro: We’re looking at irregular verbs, and are going to start our “going to a movie” unit.Grade 8: Students are reading the main text about going to a dance, and working on irregular verbs.Music: Grade 8’s are learning new notes; Mr Lush’s 7’s are finishing a test (#13 – duet). I’m a big fan of #sketchnoting (creating a visual/word sketch of main ideas on a topic, workshop, etc.). Found out today that Ted talks are now creating a sketchnote a day. You can find them here
Two sites we’ve been using lately in class (and at home, at my house):
duolingo – lets you move through learning a language wherever you are (as long as you have wifi). Great way to build your French (or other language) comfort level.

Books: Yes, I’m still reading about Ava Lee, not so mild-mannered forensic accountant. I’m very much enjoying the way the character evolves as the series continues. If you like your mysteries a little bit hard-boiled, with lots of action, and you’re interested at all in learning about the new China, Hong Kong, Macau, these are for you.
Music: This was one of the more gorgeous Prince bits I saw this weekend. Very quietly shows how talented the man was:
