I’m Madame Noble, and I teach Core French to students in Grade 5-8.

The big goal in my classroom is being able to communicate in our second language. We do our best to speak only in French, as much as we can, and to use the vocabulary we’re learning (using the AIM approach, where there is a sign-language type action for every word we learn – I sign, and the students speak) to convey our ideas. There’s a list here of the words we start with, and a look over it, to review, or remind your children of how much they know, would be a great idea.

In all classes, 10 minutes or so each day of reviewing  vocabulary at home  is very helpful. Let your kids teach you what they’re learning!

Class Updates: (you can always check edsby for most up-to-date information)

Grade 5: Students did quick character descriptions from a film they watched. This week, we’ll be working on some descriptions of our selves.

Grade 5/6: As for Grade 5’s- creating descriptions of ourselves, and some food preparation

Grade 6: Students got their schedules back – be sure to ask about them. Food prep this week!

Grade 7/8 and 8: 8’s are done seeing me, be sure you have a passé composé cheat sheet for next year. 7’s will be helping me with some packing and moving room activities.

Grade 6/7: Some work on directions, and helping me shift rooms.

Trivia  Questions

1. Qui était (was) Clementa Pinckney?

2. Qu’est-ce que c’est, #TRC2015?

Website: Amazing piece from the Atlantic about the South Caroline shootings – take the 10 minutes, and watch the video. We all need reminding to #staywoke

blessed are the peacemakers

Books: Jane Urquhart’s new one is lovely, but jumps around a bit, and I’ve had trouble committing to it. Language is amazing though, as always. Looking forward to a new Louise Penny in August! Louise Penny

Music: Have you seen the line-up for the Peterborough Folk Festival? Lots of names that have been in this space – Matt Anderson, Matthew Barber, Mo Kenney, Joel Plaskett – wow! folk festival line-up Makes up for the less than stellar (in my opinion) list for MusicFest this summer.
